This is a Fundraising Event in support of the Winchester District Memorial

Hospital Foundation’s - Family Care Fund. 

 

The DION Ignite the Night Snowshoe Race is the only night time race in the

Dion Canadian Snowshoe Running Series.

 

This race will be held at Upper Canada Village in Morrisburg, ON. This is the

first race of the 2025 Dion Canadian Snowshoe Running Series. The race is in

support of WDMH Foundation’s - Family Care Fund.   

 

The Family Care Fund does just that – ‘supports families just like yours and mine’. Donations to the Family Care Fund will be used where your gift is needed most: to buy new medical equipment, upgrade existing equipment
or meet other urgent needs at Winchester District Memorial Hospital. We work with our donors to help ensure compassionate, excellent health care.

TIME:

6:00 pm (race day kit pickup from 4:45 – 5:45pm)

Harvest Barn at Upper Canada Village 

​

DISTANCE:
- 10km Dion Points Series Race.  (Medals to the top 3 overall and the top master for both Male and Female)
- 5km Challenge (no series points awarded) (medals to the top 3 overall and the top master for both Male and Female)

 

COURSE:
Features a 5km loop (2 loops for 10km) snowshoe run Touring Upper Canada Village and its Magical lights, this will be an experience that transports you back in time to the 1860s. A key part of the experience is the authentic buildings and a picture-perfect postcard setting! Having over million lights adorning the heritage buildings, trees and fences creating a one-of-a-kind magical backdrop for this 10th annual snowshoe race and its annual Alight at Night Festival…a true winter wonderland! But wait! the lights will be switched on one last time for this Magical race! You will require a reliable and fully charged headlamp/light to locate the single-track open field flagged course. This 5km loop is rather flat except for one hill that will be climbed 2 times for 5km runners and 4 times for the Dion points series 10km race.

Upper Canada Village, 13740 County Road 2, Morrisburg, ON, K0C 1X0 (Directions)

We encourage you to 'Choose Cornwall' and check out the multitude of accommodations, in addition to a wide variety of dining options during your visit.     

 

INDOOR FACILITIES:

The Harvest Barn located inside the Village will be open for bib pick-up at 4:30pm race day. The Harvest barn will be used for refreshments, awards ceremony, and door prizes. In the event covid restriction are in place. Dress up warm!! We will be hosting everything outside next to the Harvest Barn.

 

PARKING:
There will be plenty of parking. Enter the administration entrance and follow the signs to the back doors and service road to the Harvest Barn. (Registration area- Harvest Barn). Please Park only on one side of the roadway if you do not find a parking lot spot.

SNOWSHOE RENTAL:
If you don’t own a pair of snowshoes, we have a limited number of Dion Snowshoes for rent and are available during the registration period. Make sure to check the box off if you need snowshoes. Rental fee is $10 per event For more info email snowshoer118@gmail.com

DION SNOWSHOE DISCOUNT AND DEMO:
All race participants are eligible for a 10% discount on Dion Running Snowshoes from Spafford Health and Adventure upon registration. We will also have some Dion demo snowshoes for you to try out after the race.

HEADLAMPS REQUIRED:

  • You MUST have a headlamp, light or flashlight (please bring your own).

  • Make sure light is fully charged or has fresh batteries, as the cold affects battery life. 

  • A great selection of headlamps/lights are available for purchase at Spafford Health and Adventure.

 

WEATHER:

In the unlikely event of no snow, the race will take place as a trail run (without snowshoes) and the course maybe altered. There will be No transfers to other series events or refunds. All snowshoe races are individually hosted.

FUNDRAISING PARTNER:

This is a fundraising event. All funds raised after expenses will be donated to the WDMH Foundation’s Family Care Fund.

 

ENTRY FEES:

EARLY ENTRY FEE: $40.00 (Before December 14th, 2024)


REGULAR ENTRY FEE: $50.00 (Dec 15th, 2024 – Jan 8th until 11pm)


NO Race Day registration!!!
