2020 DION Summerstown Forest Snowshoe Race - Results
The 7th annual DION Summerstown Forest Snowshoe Race took place on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the FOTST trails in the beautiful Summerstown Forest in Cornwall, Ontario. A huge congratulations to everyone who participated in the 7.3 km and 4.4 km distances!
The conditions were ideal for snowshoeing with the trails blanketed in fresh snow. Cold temperatures and sunny skies arrived for race day, showcasing the beauty of the winter woods.
The mens 7.3 km race was won by Corey Turnbull of Smiths Falls in 40:39, followed by Dave McMahon of Chelsea, Quebec in 44:24 and Christian Belair of Cornwall in 46:50.
In the women’s 7.3 km, Lisa Leskien of Cambridge took the win in a time of 50:53, just ahead of Lise Meloche of Chelsea in 52:04. Third place went to Caroline Samson-Belair of Cornwall in 53:30.
Points were awarded for each participant in the 7.3 km race towards the Dion Ontario Snowshoe Running Series.
The first two men across the line of the 4.4 km race were also from Smiths Falls, Max Benda in 23:59 and Jacob Mclean in 25:45. Third place was captured by Rafeek Mohamed of Cornwall in 36:42.
In the women’s 4.4 km distance, Heather Lewis of Ottawa was victorious in a time of 37:58, followed by Melissa McGrath of Monkland in second at 40:21 and Emily Van Kopek of Newington in 43:11.
