Exciting Competition at the Dion Snowy Soles Snowshoe Race
The Dion Snowy Soles Snowshoe Race took place on Saturday, January 25, at the scenic Goodrich-Loomis Conservation Area near Castleton, ON. As the third event in the Dion Canadian Snowshoe Series, the race brought together enthusiastic participants who enjoyed spectacular conditions along the challenging 7-kilometer course.
Men's Race Highlights
Bernie Hogan of Bancroft emerged as the overall winner in an impressive time of 29:31. Finishing second was Charley Murphy, with a time of 30:26, while Jeremy Veenstra claimed the third spot, completing the race in 34:58.
In the masters (40+) category, Michal “The Joggler” Kapral was top master in 38:40.
Women’s Race Highlights
In the women’s competition, Kim Murphy took the top spot with an exceptional time of 39:36. Tanja Urbancic-Venemore secured second place in 50:01, followed by Sheri Hogeboom in third with a time of 51:06.
The women’s masters category was won by Sandra Malmqvist Prvulovic, who crossed the line in 51:54.
